Lots of changes in my life since I last posted, which I won't go into fully. Anemia was followed by Vitamin D deficiency, both of which are back to "normal" but not necessarily "optimal" range. The reduced activity level led to depression, which I'm now taking meds for. I self-medicated with exercise for years, but don't have that available for the time being. So, God bless pharmaceuticals. Still trying to get to the bottom of the ongoing fatigue. Everytime I try something new or fix one of my issues, I perk up for a month or so, hit a plateau, then decline again. It's been frustrating, but also a blessing. I'm finally realizing the extent of my overtraining, how important self-care is, and most importantly, I'm learning to accept what is and find gratitude in the everyday.
G-dog & I went for a long walk on the greenbelt this morning. All the rain we've had meant the creek was up & flowing. There are a couple of creek crossings along the section we hiked. When we reached the first one, a couple of people were ahead of us, carefully picking their way across the rocks to avoid getting wet. I watched and waited for a bit, then realized there was a clear path to the right, through the water. I chose to wade across, wet boots, socks, and pants, a sense of freedom, and a smile on my face. When faced with the choice of stepping stones or wading through, I highly recommend wading through. Today it made all the difference for me.
